Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise the daily work and performance of each employee on assigned shift, organize schedules, and assign work activity to achieve team and company objectives safely

- Ensures that all Factory products are correctly and timorously sampled, composited, prepared and analyses and that the daily lab records sheet and Factory boards are filled up with all required analytical results and production tonnages and further that data has been captured into Cane Lab.
- Reports on any out-of-spec product stream parameters to the relevant shift team members
- Provides information for the preparation of operational budgets for the laboratory, cane weighbridge, Effluent plant for smooth operation of the Laboratory
- Provides on-the-job training courses on Laboratory skills namely analysis and calibration check of instruments or recommending to laboratory Manager for further training in case of skill shortages
- Ensures high level of competency of the Factory laboratory through interlaboratory sample analysis checks with the sugar milling research institute (SMRI).

To ensure lime and flocculent preparation and its availability for both juice and mud preparation, monitor all associated equipment for lime and flocculent preparation following procedure and good practice and ensuring that operations are running optimally.

- Lime and Flocculent preparation must be done following technical operating practices and procedures to achieve standards set for good performance.
- Liaise with Clarification and Filtration Operator to ensure consistent operation and performance of the section.
- Report any abnormal sound and/or any defect noticed to the Raw House Foreman.
- Periodically inspect auxiliary equipment such as agitator motor, lime dosing pumps, grit removal screen and ensure they are in a good running condition, report any defect identified.
- Ensure good housekeeping on lime and flocculent station, the walkway needs to be free of any hazard.
- Ensure sampling of the Milk of Lime for every batch Baume measurement.
- Inspect and clean the grit removal and flocculent screen to meet working standard.
- Ensure proper record of the quantity/ number of lime bags used.
- Ensure the lime supply pipe is flashed with water to avoid continuous lime build up during long stop cane crushing.
- During emergency stops, the Lime and flocculent station attendant shall be assigned other tasks such Lime station maintenance but not restricted to only these.
- Report any situation that is non-conforming to required standards, safety, health or anything that would impact the environment to your supervisor.
- Ensure timely reporting of any incident at the section to supervisor.
- Ensure a proper hand over at the end of your shift.
